On Saturday December 23, over 2,500 people gathered in the Perry Gymnasium to honor and recognize Perry Basketball players, trainers, and coaches from the past 50 years. The evening began with the introduction of Perry Basketball alumni before the Varsity team played St.Thomas Aquinas. The alumni were introduced individually and proceeded to surround the court where they greeted the current Panther squad as they took the floor for pre-game warm-ups. The Panthers won an exciting game in overtime on two late free throws by Dan Harsh. The alumni then filed through the locker room to congratulate the team. We then held a post game reception in the Auxiliary Gym where Perry alumni, families, and friends shared stories, memories, and renewed friendships. The night was highlighted by pictures from the past 50 years, old yearbooks, and genuine feeling of Pride in the efforts of all these men in making the Perry Basketball program what it is today! Special thanks to our 50 Years Committee for all their hours of hard work and research. Members were Theresa and Keith Gillilan, Patty and Dan Gaston, Jenna Gaston, and Pat Carroll. Special thanks to A.D. Frank Gamble, Athletic Secretary, Mrs. Glenna Reese, and the custodial crew for all their efforts in making this an evening to remember. We are so happy we had this opportunity to recognize and celebrate our history. Thanks to everyone who attended, participated, and helped in this celebration of 50 years of Perry Basketball.
